If summer is your favourite season then perhaps you love staying out in the hot sun. Lounging outdoors and frolicking in the sun, sea and sand for hours can leave your skin sunburns. But don’t worry. Here are some easy tips that shield your skin from burning sun.

* Soak cabbage or lettuce in cold water or refrigerate them. When they are cold enough, put them on the affected parts of the skin until they are warm. Repeat a few times.

* Apply aloe Vera gel juice on the affected area.

* Pour a few drops of rose water or sandalwood oil in cold water and have a refreshing and cooling bath.

* Mix equal quantities of olive oil and vinegar and apply on the affected area. Wash with water after 25-30 minutes.

* Soak a soft cotton cloth in a bucket of water to which a few drops of vinegar have been added. Put it on the face (except on eyes) and other affected parts.

* Put chilled used tea bags on the affected area. Repeat this process 2-3 times a day.

* Mix together mashed strawberries and buttermilk and apply this mixture on the affected area. Let it dry and then wash with cold water.

* Mix sandalwood powder with a little rose water and make a paste. Apply this paste on the sun burnt area and wash with cold water when dry.

* In the ratio of 1:6, mix together tomato juice and buttermilk. Apply this on the affected area and wash after 25-30 minutes.

* Dab the sunburnt area with cold milk for 20 minutes and then wash with cold water.

* Mix some milk with grated cucumber and apply on the affected area. Wash with cold water after 15 minutes.

* Rub the sun burnt area with mustard oil and leave for sometime. Wash with warm water.

* Mix together equal quantities of potato juice and lemon juice. Apply it on the affected area and wash after 15 minutes.
