                                                     Grease on silk

A grease mark on silk can be removed by the following methods: rub the mark with butter (before using water), and leave in the sun for about half and hour. Then wash in warm soapy water (not detergent).

                                                     Prevent mildew formation

To keep the mildew from forming on the rubber insulation around and fridge doors, first clean thoroughly dry, and then dust freely with baby powder. Repeat as needed.

                                                     Softening gum

When gum has hardened in a bottle, add a little vinegar and it will turn liquid again.

                                                   Washing woolen gloves

To prevent woolen gloves from shrinking in the wash, put two or three marbles in each finger.

                                                  Prevent over boiling of jam

When cooking jam, rub butter around the edge of the pot and the jam will not over boil.
