Rose water: Add to 200ml of boiling water,
50g rose petals and chamomile. Cool and apply all over the face and burnt areas
for effective relief.
Green tea compress: Brew a pot of green tea
and let it cool. Soak a clean cloth in the brew and use it as a compress for
the burnt areas. The tea contains ingredients that help protect the skin from
ultra-violet rays, which cause damage. This also reduces inflammation.
Tender coconut: Tender coconut water can be
applied on the face and hands to cool down the skin and prevent allergic.
Mint: Mint is great for tanned skin. Apply
diluted mint juice all over the face, leave it for 10 minutes and wash with
cool water.
Vegetables and Fruits: For painful spots of
sunburn, rub the area gently with sliced cucumber or potato. They contain
compounds that cool burns and reduce swelling.
Smashed apricots applied on the burnt areas (for 15 minutes)
and then washed off with luke-warm water are great soothers for irritated skin.
Cold Soak: For immediate relief, soak the
sunburn areas in cold water. Or, you can use a cold compress for 15 minutes on
the affected areas. The cold reduces the swelling.
Aloe Vera: Apply a light coating of pure Aloe
Vera gel on the damaged skin. This is one of the best ways to soothe sunburns.
Buttermilk: Dip a wad of cotton in diluted
and chilled buttermilk. Use this to coat the area of sunburn. Dab the area
three to four times. The sunburn will disappear almost instantly.
Watermelon: Watermelon juice can soothe and
hydrate the skin in summer. Apply the juice, let it stay on for 15 minutes and
then rinse off.
